The 3^rd-axis technology patented by Autonnic is available from the FluxgateWorld division as a number of partially and fully implemented subsystems.  Vector Modules are the building blocks of Force-Vector sensing which includes Joysticks as well as fluid flow.
A standard module is the A4036 for the measurement of WINDSPEED and DIRECTION. It is a simple, low-cost way to derive both wind speed and wind direction from a robust reliable sensor for Marine, Environmental or Safety applications. The wind Vector is analysed by the drag-force on a sphere which bends a spring and the resulting angular displacement and its direction is detected by 3td axis magnetics. It also detects Magnetic North for optional North reference of wind direction.
